Governance of Policy Failure Risks in the Design and Implementation of Mission-Oriented Innovation Policies
The GRIP project is funded by the Transatlantic Partnership (T-AP), which brings together National Science Centre (Poland), SSHRC: Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (Canada), and UKRI: UK Research and Innovation.
Project Summary
This research project investigates the risks of policy failure in the design and implementation of Mission-Oriented Innovation Policies (MOIPs).
MOIPs are transformative policy initiatives aimed at fostering innovations to tackle complex societal challenges. However, their inherent uncertainty, multilevel nature, and complexity increase the likelihood of policy failure, which can lead to ineffective policy support.
The project applies a conceptual framework based on risk governance and public policy research to identify and mitigate these risks, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of MOIPs in achieving their intended goals. It analyses MOIP initiatives with sustainability related goals in three selected countries (United Kingdom, Poland and Canada) using Qualitative Comparative Analysis.
